I’m back! Just in time for Fall at the farm!

Its been a while since I’ve posted – I almost forgot how!   I’m only half joking here!  I’m ok with technology but this blogging mumbojumbo jargon does not come naturally to me.  I just spent 45 minutes trying to figure out how to get a Subscribe button on my blog.  Oh yeah that reminds me, you can now sign up to get emails to notify you of new posts on the blog!  Yay!  It’s something I’ve been meaning to get added for a while now but life has been busy.  Sometimes I feel like Superwoman getting a million things done while holding  a kid on my hip – other days its time to make supper and I haven’t even managed to get the breakfast table cleaned up!  I feel like I have been having the latter day oh for about a month now!  I know I’ve been busy – its just been with things that take up a lot of time and you maybe don’t see big, visual results. Things like:

PARENTING (lol!)  – We have been getting into the school groove.  Actually we didn’t even make it a  full week of school before I had sick kiddos home for a entire week. Seriously I think they just start swapping gum the minute they get back to school.  Also I’m down to one child at home during the school day which means I’m his only playmate.  Its wonderful to have the one on one time but its also been an adjustment and on top of it we are potty training  – potty training people – ugh is all I have to say about that right now but  I might just have some insight to share on that topic later.

HARVESTING THE GARDEN – That’s right I’ve been putting lots of time and effort into vegetables of all things! People who know me are scratching their heads at this I’m sure.  However its been mostly tomato based products that go into actually yummy foods  like spaghetti and pizza.  I plan on sharing how to make the best homemade pizza with some super yummy pizza sauce soon!

A MILLION SMALL PROJECTS –  I’m in one of the those modes where I’ve got a million little ideas buzzing around in my head and just can’t seem to concentrate enough on one to get it finished.   Ok  I’m really almost always in this mode so its probably not a valid excuse and I promise I’ll show you what I’ve been up too soon…hopefully.

Also, I joined Instagram a while back now.  Its really fun to see all the wonderful talent and inspiration that is out there  and there are so many kind, amazing people out there who love what the same things as me but I will be honest it can also be a little intimidating.   I feel like I’m in high school with insecurities looming again sometimes – is my style good enough, is my blog interesting enough, how the heck do they keep all that white furniture clean?!?!?  At the end of the day I just have to shush it all down and give myself a “You’re good enough,  you’re smart enough and gosh darn it – people like you!” speech.  (such a SNL classic!)   Sometimes though it can be difficult for me to know where I should be posting things as well –  the blog, instagram, my facebook???  I’ll get it all sorted out at some point!  I try not to write posts just so for the sake of having a post – I like to write when I have a project finished or a fun recipe my family loves or just when my random little thoughts need a place to escape.

Since Fall is in full swing on the farm I thought it was a pretty darn good time to dust off my little ole blog.  Some of these pictures you may have seen on my Instagram account and some I haven’t shared yet.   I’ve done a little decorating here and there.  I’ve kept it pretty simple:

A little wood boxI made got some faux gourdes and pumpkins.

A few fall leaves here and there gives a hint of fall here and there.

I used an old screen door I salvaged from my grandma’s house as a pretty backdrop for chalkboard I made.

Another old salvaged door makes for a pretty backdrop behind the piano and I recently chalkpainted an old dresser to serve as a buffet in the dining room.

A little hand embroidered tea towel I made.  More styles are available on my etsy store http://www.etsy.com/shop/MyInspiredFarmhouse

Of course the porch got some fall love.  I got to add the milk tin I found at my grandma’s house.

The cat seems to approve.

I even convinced the kids to sit for a minute!

But now here is the real beauty which I get to take no credit for.  I tell you what, this land is straight from heaven.  We’ve been taking almost daily walks lately back to our little “lake” just to soak up as much of it as we can.  We are trying really hard to peel our kids and ourselves away from the screens – its not an easy feat in this day and age but we know its important.

This blog is meant to be a fun creative outlet for me and I never want it to feel forced.  So thank you all for sticking with me even when I go through a little lull.  I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to visit.

Lots of love,

Heather
