“Let All That We Do Be Done In Love”

Hi friends!

Wow! Two posts in one week! I haven’t been that ambitious in a while!   What I’m writing about today has been something that has been on my mind for a few months now. Don’t worry this is not a political post but lately social media has been full such of  despair and hate.  Its been weighing heavily on my heart watching people – my friends, family and neighbors become so full of negativity toward each other.  Its become easy to lose sight of how much good and love people are capable of.  I’m not trying to throw stones,  I have been guilty of it myself at times.  We all have opinions and we are all certainly welcome to them but there is definitely a better way to make this world a better place, to make  it a place we want our kids to grow up in then to become stuck focusing on the negative.  Negativity, fear and hate will spread like wild fires if we let them.

So I’ve decided to take aproactive approach to spreading a little love. A few months ago I made up a basket of port pillows out of my fabric scraps and donated them to a local cancer center.  They are just little pillows that velcro on to your seat belt so that the seat belt doesn’t have to rest directly on your port line if you have one.  These pillows are not a huge gesture but hopefully they gave a little extra comfort to someone battling something really hard.  I also threw in a few homemade stuffed animals  so they could give them to a child who might be having an extra hard day.  Like I said these were not huge, monetary items but they came from my heart and I know it did just as much good for my heart to give them than it did for those patients.

So I’ve decided this year that each month I’m going to try and spread the love.  They don’ t have to be huge things – maybe they won’t always be homemade – maybe it will be spending time at the nursing home with my kids visiting with residents.  I’m still thinking of ideas.  But I want to do something deliberate from my heart each month.  Something I can share with my kids.  To show them how to spread love in this world.  To show them that political views – NO MATTER WHAT SIDE YOU ARE ON  –  don’t dictate the kind of world we live in.   I don’t want to have to look at them and say “act as i say, not as i do.” Its your actions that change the world.  “Let all that we do be done in love.”

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to share my plan.   I don’t want people to think I’m doing these things for attention, I’m not looking for a pat on the back.  If someone comes up to me on the street who has read this and gives me those things I might die of embarrassment.  Also, I realize I’m not the first person to volunteer  – I realize that there is still a lot of kind and good people in the world spreading their love right now.  But I’ve decided to share my master plan because for one it will keep me accountable and two maybe it will inspire others to action – to start focusing on love instead of negativity.

So there we go.  I can already feel my heart lifting.  I have some ideas of things I want to do and I will share them as I go.  If you have thoughts or ideas or things you have done please feel free to  share with me.  I would love to hear them! I would love to share them!

As always thank you everyone for all the love, support and inspiration you give me.

LOL (Lots of love)

Heather

Heather, you have such a beautiful soul. I need to follow your lead on this – I’ve been guilty of negativity myself lately.
